After the boom in the 1960s and 1980s, when the number of 2000 new films dropped below twenty, the industry declined by 2000. The Gujarat State Government again declared tax exemption in 2005 which lasted till 2017. The industry was partly driven by rural demand in the 2010s, and later by the influx of new technologies and urban themes into films. Has been revived. The state government announced a policy of incentives in 2016. 

Gujarati Natak Mandali (1878-89) and Mumbai Gujarati Natak Mandali (1889–1948) was a Bombay-based theater troupe. He made numerous contributions to Gujarati theater, including the staging of over a hundred plays and the training and introduction of many renowned performers and directors.

Bhavai is derived from the Sanskrit word bhava, which means "expression" or "spirit." It's also linked to the Hindu goddess Amba. Because Bhava means the universe and I means mother, it can also be regarded an art form dedicated to Amba, the universe's mother. Bhavai is also known as Vesha or Sawang, which means 'wake up' in Sanskrit.

1960 અને 1980 ના દાયકામાં તેજી આવ્યા પછી, એક સમય એવો પણ આવ્યો કે જ્યારે સન 2000 માં નવી રજુ થતી ફિલ્મોની સંખ્યા ૨૦ થી પણ નીચે આવી ગઈ, ગુજરાતી ફિલ્મ ઉદ્યોગ 2000 સુધીમાં ખુબ જ ધક્કો લાગેલો અને ફિલ્મ રજુ થવાનું પ્રમાણ એક્દમ ઘટી ગયુ. ગુજરાત રાજ્ય સરકારે ફરીથી 2005 માં કર મુક્તિ ની જાહેરાત કરી જે 2017 સુધી ચાલી. જેના દ્વારા ગુજરાતી ફિલ્મ ઉદ્યોગ આંશિક રીતે ગ્રામીણ માંગ દ્વારા સંચાલિત હતો. ત્યાર બાદ 2010 ફરીથી ગુજરાતી સિનેમાને નવા રંગ સાથે અને ફિલ્મોમાં નવી ટેક્નોલોજી અને શહેરી વિષયોના પ્રવાહ દ્વારા પુનઃજીવિત કરવામાં આવ્યો. જેના પરીણાઅમે ગુજરાત રાજ્ય સરકારે 2016માં પ્રોત્સાહક નીતિ જાહેર કરી અને ગુજરાતી સિનેમાને પ્રાણ પુર્યા.

ગુજરાતી નાટક મંડળી (1878-89) અને મુંબઈ ગુજરાતી નાટક મંડળી (1889–1948) એ બોમ્બે સ્થિત થિયેટર મંડળી હતી. તેમણે ગુજરાતી રંગભૂમિમાં અસંખ્ય યોગદાન આપ્યું છે, જેમાં સોથી વધુ નાટકોનું મંચન અને ઘણા જાણીતા કલાકારો અને દિગ્દર્શકોની તાલીમ અને પરિચયનો સમાવેશ થાય છે.
