‘સ્વાગતમ’ની વાર્તાને એક વાક્યમાં કહેવી હોય તો, ‘માનસિક રીતે અસ્થિર પરિવારમાં મળી આવેલી લાશની આજુબાજુ પેદા થતી સિચ્યુએશનલ કોમેડી’! માનવ (મલ્હાર ઠાકર) પોતાની ગર્લફ્રેન્ડ જાહ્નવી (કથા પટેલ)ને લઈ માનગઢ આવે છે. પોતાની બા સરયુદેવી (વંદના પાઠક) અને રૂપા માસી (બિંદા રાવલ)થી દૂર મુંબઈમાં રહીને લેખક તરીકે કાર્યરત માનવ ‘મહેતા મેન્શન’માં પગ મૂકતાંની સાથે જ આફતોના ઘેરા વચ્ચે સપડાઈ જાય છે. ઘરના કબાટમાંથી મળી આવેલી બિનવારસી લાશ તેને હેરાનપરેશાન કરી મૂકે છે અને સર્જાય છે અફડાતફડી!
The story of ‘Welcome’ is to be told in one sentence, ‘Situational comedy arising around a corpse found in a mentally unstable family’! Manav (Malhar Thackeray) comes to Mangarh with his girlfriend Jahnavi (Katha Patel). Staying in Mumbai away from his Ba Saryudevi (Vandana Pathak) and Rupa Masi (Binda Raval), the man, who is working as a writer, sets foot in the Mehta Mansion and falls into the midst of calamities. The unclaimed corpse found in the closet of the house annoys him and creates panic!
An episode with the character of Mukesh alias Vaibhav Biniwale after the completion of half the film breathes new life into the story and ‘Swagatam’ becomes spectacular again. The film manages to entertain as well as inform. This year, when not a single Gujarati film could be released in theaters due to Corona, there is nothing wrong with watching 'Swagatam' once with the family.
